Abstract

Objective: violence against women is one the main issue for society health .Violence not only harms physical and mental health of women but also threats health of family and society. The aim of current study is The study of demographic and psychological variables in spouse and on-abused women in Savojbolagh - Iran: A Comparative Study

Method: this current study was conducted to examine the role of demographic and psychological factors affecting violence against women referring to healthcare centers in Savojbolagh. 300 female patients who had referred to healthcare centers in Savojbolagh filled out demographic and Ghahari’s spouse abuse questionnaires. Data were analyzed using t test and chi-square.

Results: this study indicated a significant difference between violence experience of women and variables including woman’s age (p=0.033), man’s age (p=0.008), number of rooms in the house (p=0.000), residence place (rental or owned) (p=0.003), education level of woman (p=0.038) and man (p=0.005), job of woman (p=0.030) and man (p=0.002), income level of family (p=0.002), psychiatric disease of woman (p=0.000) and man (p=0.000), and contraception method used by couples (p=0.000).

Conclusion: Regarding of demographic factors affecting violence commitment leads to more accurate planning to prevent from domestic violence by policy makers.
