Abstract

Object: In current study, aim is comparison maladaptive schema self-image- in fat and normal weight female adolescence

Method: This comparative study was conducted in Lahijan, north of Iran and 150 fat female adolescences were selected using convenient sampling method from 5000 adolescences in this area; moreover, 150 adolescences with normal weight were selected using matching sampling method. Selected members were compared with each other in terms of Maladaptive Schema and self-image. The applied questionnaires included: Yang’s Maladaptive Schemas Questionnaire (YSQ-SF), Multi-Dimensional Body-Self Relationships Questionnaire (MBSRQ).Data were analyzed using MANOVA through SPSS22 Software.    

Results: There was a significant difference between two groups in terms of Self-Concept and Maladaptive Schema.

Discussion: Maladaptive schemas and negative self-image in fat female adolescences were at higher level than adolescences with normal weight.
